Summer of Crabbie’s

Hi there Crabbie’s Crowd,

What splendid sunshine we’ve been having this week! George and I have been planning the summer holidays getting lots of events into the Crabbie’s party planner. We may even be stopping by a town near you in the not too distant future!

Of all the events that we like to attend, we do try to make sure they are picnic basket friendly. George and I do love a picnic, obviously with a Crabbie’s thrown in for good measures.

Although, at the moment, George and I never seem to agree which delicious Crabbie’s flavour to put in the hamper. One is rather partial to a scrumptious Spiced Orange variety, with its infusions of orange and spices on top of our lovely Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer. And when you add a slice of orange, it really becomes a summery treat. George, however, tends to opt for a Black Reserve variety given its stronger ginger tones.

Anyway I’m rambling, our life is pretty tickety-boo considering our biggest argument comes from which Crabbie’s variety is our favourite.

Which Crabbie’s do you think is the most spiffing and why? We would love to hear from you through our Facebook page or on Twitter.

Warmest,
Camilla

My Productive Weekend

With George out of the house this weekend I got well underway in planning our Spiffing Jubilee Party.

First I tried out Jane’s wonderful cupcake recipe (https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=406297829393461) to ensure I got the measurements of the recipe just right so that we can have a few trays of Crabbie’s cupcakes out for guests upon their arrival.

Then there was the décor - of which, luckily, we had some special plates made to celebrate in style (http://www.crabbiesgingerbeer.co.uk/competition/win-your-face-on-a-plate/).

One last thing that I organised is a real treat for our guests: Party packs! Like a goody bag at a children’s party but on a much grander scale, I say.

The thing is; we’ve had a few people cancel on us - darn and drat!? Yet, this is good news for the Crabbie’s Crowd as these bumper party packs are now up for grabs on our spiffing website. One should try their luck at getting their hands them:  http://www.crabbiesgingerbeer.co.uk/competition/win-a-spiffing-jubilee-party-park/

My Little Secret!

George here, chaps

I’ve managed to set up a little communications hub in the garden shed. It is absolutely wizard, and something I should have considered years ago.
You can expect more regular updates from me on my super new retreat. Just don’t tell Camilla, I digress.

I wanted to share with you a little more about my one of my favourite treats: Crabbie’s Black Reserve.

Crabbie’s Black Reserve is a little more powerful than Crabbie’s Ginger Beer itself. At 6% ABV, it comes with a stronger, more fuller bodied experience as the ginger within it has been steeped for up to four weeks longer than that of the ginger used in original Crabbie’s.

I’ve even installed a miniature fridge in the retreat to house my secret stash. I treat myself to one every time Camilla asks me to do the gardening, which reminds me, I must mow the lawn or there will be hell to pay!?

Remember, Mum’s the word! And try a bottle of Crabbie’s Black Reserve should get the opportunity.

Over and Out

Three, in this case, is worlds better than two!

I say chaps, three day weekends should most certainly be the norm.

Now then, you have had three days to make the most of family, friends and fun. The weather has not been up to much so I think that a Barbeque is probably off the cards for this Bank Holiday Monday – darn, and drat! But that’s  not to say that a dinner gathering is an altogether silly notion.

George and I shall be having friends over for a fabulous roast chicken with all the trimmings.  It’s no ordinary roast, it shall be a Crabbie’s roast!

The night before cooking the chicken George and I baste our chicken in a Crabbie’s marinade.

·         Mix together:  1L of water, 2 x 500ml Crabbie’s, 40g of salt, 1 tablespoon of black peppercorns
·         Cook on a medium heat until the mixture starts to steam - roughly for five minutes
·         Once the mixture has cooled, place the chicken in a large stock pot and pour the mixture over until the chicken is submerged
·         Leave in the fridge for at least 12 hours to really soak through
·         The following morning remove the Chicken, pat it dry and roast as normal.
Happy Bank Holiday and enjoy your next roast, Crabbie’s Crowd!

Crabbie’s Sponsors The British Soap Awards

Dear Crabbie’s Fans,

Once again George and I are absolutely thrilled that Crabbie’s is sponsoring the British Soap Awards. We have the night all planned out: Curling up on the sofa with our refreshing Crabbie’s, good snacks, and in the company of good friends - we shall be turning the receiver on at 19:59 sharp!

It’s likely to be a wizard evening if last year’s show is anything to go by. The ladies will no doubt be dressed to the nines looking every bit the glamorous maidens in their chic attire, and the gentlemen will turn out in their most spiffing threads - looking ever so dapper.

We are rather excited, and you should be too, so tune in for tomorrow for some tickety-boo television.

The British Soap Awards will be broadcasted between 8pm and 10pm on ITV, Wednesday 2 May.

Warmest Regards,

Camilla
